Getting Around

Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand. There is an efficient and frequent bus shuttle service which is free to all ski pass holders. This can take you between the two villages and also as far as La Clusaz and Saint Jean de Sixt with the more extensive Massif Aravais ski pass.

There is plenty of choice of restaurants and bars to suit all pockets and tastes in both Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand.

The region is famous for its hams and cheeses and the delicious traditional dish of  ‘tartiflette’ is served in most restaurants but is especially good in the lovely old farm-house style restaurants with open fires in winter serving real traditional ‘stick to your ribs’  type food. There are also bars serving snacks and also Italian restaurants.

Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand. Self catering is easy as there are small supermarkets in Chinaillon and in Le Grand Bornand as well as a large supermarket in nearby Thones.

There are plenty of the usual facilities, shops, delicatessens, banks with cash points, doctors etc.

It is also well worth a trip to the beautiful old town of Annecy in any season. In addition, sunbathing by the Lake or swimming in its’ clear blue waters is a real treat in summer. Visit the lovely quaint villages around the Lake and the spectacular ‘Chateau De Menthon’ at Menthon-St-Bernard.
